Yes. I adhere to state mandated protocols.
The room and table will be sanitized prior to a session.
There will be adequate time, before your session, to ventilate the room.
In addition to ventilating, I have a room air purifier/sanitizer running.
Upon arrival, both client and I will use hand sanitizer.
I will be in fresh clothing.
Mask wearing is optional.
First sessions involve an intake interview to determine areas of focus or avoidance. This helps the practitioner decide how to best proceed in order to achieve best individual results. Subsequent sessions will begin with updates to the initial intake. As far as the session itself, the stretching is performed on a table and involves traction and rotation of joints. As well as contraction and relaxation of muscle groups. There is much attention to breathing.
The practitioner will guide you with breathing during a session.
FST is a very gentle form of assisted stretching.
The techniques targets fascial tissue and not muscles.
The most you should feel during a session is minor "stretch awareness".
The goal is a pain free experience.
After an FST session, you will feel relaxed and comfortable. And will notice some increased mobility/range of motion almost immediately.
Often clients indicate a feeling of overall lightness.
There really isn’t any preparation aside from appropriate attire (per question below) and it’s recommended you are hydrated. So plenty of water.
Loose comfortable clothing. The same apparel you would wear to the gym or any type of fitness class. Jewelry should be removed (rings are fine)
50% of your mobility is in your joints. Tractioning joints is the key of making FST work. , which is something not easily achieved with stretching your own muscles and tissues. Because FST tractions the joint in the beginning of every stretch, you are able to get 50% more mobility than you would on your own.
No. They are two completely different techniques. FST attends to the entire fascia connective tissue system. Where Myofascial Release targets specific muscles and often involves pressure applied to those specific areas.
The pressure can sometimes cause discomfort.
Just to re-iterate, FST is pain free
